The design of this proposed dwelling in North Yorkshire is based upon Passivhaus principles with the orientation maximising natural daylight and the southern aspect for solar gains. This combines a fabric first approach to both design and construction with high levels of insulation and air tightness.
Andrew Burningham, seven’s certified Passivhaus architect, has worked closely with the client to develop this fabulous sustainable home.
‘Passive’ house design offers a focused approach to construction and design that reduces the need for energy by considering factors such as the orientation of windows, thickness of insulation and air flow. These principles can be applied to residential, commercial and industrial developments and are relevant to both new buildings and refurbishments.
