The Enterprise Centre is a branded University Hub for Bury College’s increasing number of Higher Education Students, providing them with a high quality environment well equipped for 21st century teaching and learning.
The project was developed as part of a long term masterplan for the 33,000m2 estate. The scheme involved extending the existing building to add a 4 storey extension, creating over 1500m2 of new build space. A range of flexible IT teaching areas, conference rooms and numerous small seminar and 1 to 1 spaces were designed for Higher Education students.
A drop in social learning hub on the ground floor provides an open environment where students have easy access to IT and can work individually or in groups in a readily adaptable space. High levels of glazing allow views into and out of this area, welcoming users and offering high levels of natural light.
The Enterprise Centre achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating through sustainable technologies including tariff-generating solar panels at roof level, good daylight and a building management system to control and monitor energy usage.
