Yesterday [31st October] Simon led a presentation to the Year 5 Architecture Students at Sheffield University as part of their Management, Practice & Legal module.

A packed audience at the University’s Arts Tower heard from the project delivery team onboard the Taylors of Harrogate factory expansion and office development. As architects on the scheme we were joined on the day by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine (Mark Sayers), Decso M&E engineer (Danny Strickland) plus client, Bettys & Taylors (Kevin Williams).

We guided the students through the project from commission, concept, through to completion explaining the briefing process, the duties of each company involved and the relationships and responsibilities of each party. We were keen to demonstrate the balance of individual roles and skills and demonstrate that, via effective teamwork and communication, the successful delivery of client objectives will be met.

In many ways the success of the project team emulates the basis of the Taylors of Harrogate product, themselves stating, “We use extremely good ingredients, create clever blends and build close relationships with the best growers in the world.”

A big thanks to course leader (and director of Group Ginger), Simon Baker, who invited the team to spend a couple of hours discussing the benefits of the perfect blend… which always results in a proper brew.
