The exciting proposals for the expansion of the Taylors of Harrogate tea and coffee factory have been approved by Harrogate Borough Council.

Due to the ever-growing popularity of a ‘proper brew’, the plans will expand the current factory facilities by over 4000m2 to increase the production capability of the site. So there will be no shortage of the proper stuff!

Seven are delighted to be working alongside Sir Robert McAlpine to create a modern new industrial building with industry leading equipment, which will significantly streamline the company’s current processes, increase output and consolidate their position as the number 2 tea brand in the UK.

Taylors of Harrogate, along with sister company Bettys, operates using a set of values which they call the Six Ps: Prosperity, People, Planet, Product, Passion and Process. As a business that continually strives to reduce their environmental impact, Bettys & Taylors believe that the company’s environmental approach should go beyond compliance and good practice in areas where innovative leadership initiatives sustain and may have a positive impact on relationships with the planet and enhance the company reputation.

The proposed scheme is designed to maximise use of daylight within the factory and office spaces, enhance ecology through carefully considered planting schemes and reduce energy use through high quality external fabric and highly efficient systems. A sustainably sourced glu-laminated structural frame will be used owing to its environmental benefits.

We are looking forward to seeing the scheme progress. Time to put the kettle on…
