Abdul Zafar

Architectural Technologist
Abdul is an enthusiastic Chartered Architectural Technologist working within Seven team. Abdul has the capability to adapt to projects with differing needs. Creative and forward thinking, Abdul enjoys designing buildings that are sustainable, affordable, and functional but that are also aesthetically pleasing. He brings a keen eye for detail to the team from previous experience working on refurbishment, retrofit and new build schemes of differing sizes within the residential sector across the UK.

Christina Lipcheva

Architect
Christina, a RIBA Chartered Architect, is celebrating one year at Seven’s Harrogate studio, during which she has been involved with several education projects, including a new build highly sustainable nursery. She also has experience in the commercial and residential sectors, ranging from large multi-use masterplans to one-off private houses and tricky extensions in sensitive historic buildings.
Christina is fully proficient in BIM and has taken on the task of advancing BIM standards within the practice and providing training to her colleagues. She is also interested in sustainability, building performance and modular design, and health and well-being.
Christina is a keen sourdough baker in her spare time and likes to bring all sorts of tasty treats into the office, with or without an occasion!

Daniel Scott

Associate
Dan is an Associate at seven and is particularly passionate about architecture that brings a new lease of life to existing and sometimes neglected buildings. He offers experience across Residential, Retail and Commercial projects and has developed a specialism for reworking houses and other existing buildings to help them better suit the needs and exceed the expectations of their users.
He believes that working closely with clients to develop a sensitive and strategic approach to context can uncover a project’s true hidden potential. Dan is highly proficient in a range of software including Adobe Creative Suite and is a Revit Certified Professional.

Dean Murphy

Associate
Dean is an experienced architect who has led large design teams on projects across the UK and internationally. His technical proficiency and skills to deliver intelligent and well-crafted buildings, has resulted in numerous award-winning designs. Dean recognises the benefit of working collaboratively, alongside key stakeholders, to ensure early consultation results in a truly considered solution. This is demonstrated throughout his 16 years of producing creative and inspirational spaces within the education, research and healthcare sectors, with specific expertise in wider campus masterplanning.

Emma Tattersfield

Apprentice Architect & Sustainability Lead
Emma joined seven in 2019 as a Part I after receiving a First Class BA(Hons) from Leeds Beckett University, which included a six month exchange at IUAV in Venice, and continues her post-graduate studies at Northumbria University whilst working as an apprentice at Seven.
Emma’s time in practice has involved work across multiple sectors including education, heritage, community and residential at various work stages.
Emma is passionate about progressing the practice’s sustainability agenda with increased focus on the architects role in the face of the climate and biodiversity crisis.

Ian Chapman

Director
Ian is a RIBA Chartered Architect and co-founding Director of seven. Ian has been working in professional practice for over 20 years, during which he has led the design of numerous high profile and award winning projects ranging from £0.5M to £60M in value.
Ian is the design lead for the practice, taking overall responsibility for the design quality across the studios. Clients value Ian’s master planning expertise in unlocking challenging sites to provide beneficial environments for end users. Ian currently manages the account of our retirement living developments, creating designs which are built around the needs of homeowners to better assist them with the challenges of later life. He also offers expertise in the design of effective commercial office and workspace environments, including several new build and refurbishment schemes at SciTech in Daresbury.

Izzy Kendrick-Jones

Architect
Izzy’s time in practice has involved work on civil architecture, including court buildings and prison design, both large- and small-scale residential projects, and work on heritage projects and in the motor trade.
Izzy has considerable experience in social housing through involvement in a multi-site scheme centered around prefabricated pod houses, constructed using Modern Methods of Construction. She is invested in sustainable design and construction and is keen to explore creative ways in which they may be integrated into each stage of a project.
She recognises the importance of the careful preservation, and celebration, of historical architecture, and is interested to explore and promote the intrinsic link between sustainability and conservation.

Joel Barnes

Architect
Joel joined Seven as an Architectural Assistant in June 2023 and completed his final ARB examinations in May ’24. Joel has worked in a variety of sectors, including both large and small scale residential projects, sports & leisure design and several large scale mix-use master planning developments.
Joel has developed a keen eye in 3D modelling and visualising, incorporating these skills into a variety of projects across his career. He aspires to develop these further and push the boundaries of Seven’s digital artistic portfolio.
Joel understands the cultural significance of historical architecture and the need to conserve and improve it. He believes this is top of Seven’s agenda, along with sustainable and socially conscious construction methods. With an affinity for both, Joel hopes to combine modern technologies with heritage projects, producing architecture that has a environmental responsibility to enrich the lives of the user, as well as retaining aesthetic value from our architectural past.

Lewis Jackson

Part I Architectural Assistant
Lewis Jackson joined the Harrogate studio in September 2023 as a Part I Architectural Assistant.
Lewis has just graduated from Northumbria University, and during his time at school and University, he has enjoyed a variety of work placements and voluntary positions outside architecture, including a 4-week volunteering project in Costa Rica and is also a keen guitarist.
Lewis has an interest in sustainability and is part of our inhouse ESG Team at seven, who help promote positive change and focus on our sustainability agenda.

Lisa Mcfarlane

Director & Specialist Conservation Architect
Lisa is a RIBA Specialist Conservation Architect and Director of seven, past President of the Manchester Society of Architects and is a full Member of the IHBC. She is passionate about ensuring sensitive historical buildings can be enjoyed for future generations and has developed specialist expertise in conservation architecture. Her skills are valued throughout the profession and she is a regular judge for the RICS Awards, Civic Trust Awards and for the Conservation Category in the RIBA NW Regional Awards. Lisa also sits on the Manchester City Council Conservation Panel.
Lisa champions seven’s mission to improve lives, designing award winning public buildings such as Youth Zones in disadvantaged areas to give young people somewhere positive to spend their leisure time. She is also leading seven’s trailblazer role in developing the new Architectural Apprenticeship programme with the IFA, offering students an alternative route into the profession.

Ruth Sienkiewicz

Associate & Conservation Architect
Ruth is a RIBA accredited Conservation Architect and Associate at seven. She has a wide range of experience across the education, residential, commercial and sports sectors with much of her work involving historic buildings and sensitive settings.
Ruth is passionate about ensuring that our historic environment can be enjoyed by future generations and has recently completed a RIBA Advanced Conservation Course to further enhance her knowledge. She has a keen interest in the way in which architecture impacts upon our daily lives and particularly enjoys creating inspiring educational environments, currently involved in various refurbishment projects in the FE sector. Ruth believes that good design results from collaborative working practices and strives to build strong team relationships.

Samantha Gill

Associate and Specialist Conservation Architect
Sam is an Associate at Seven and an RIBA accredited Specialist Conservation Architect who is passionate about saving heritage buildings for future generation, focusing on the restoration and redevelopment of complex historic sites. She is experienced in delivering sensitive responses to building conservation whilst developing contemporary solutions within a historical context.
Sam has worked on buildings of all designations including buildings at risk, within Scheduled Ancient Monuments and National Heritage Lottery Funded projects. She is also the secretary for the IHBC North-West branch.

Simon Green

Associate & Studio Leader
Simon is an Associate at seven and past President of the Manchester Society of Architects offering 15 years of experience across the profession. He has a breadth of knowledge in Leisure, Residential, Education and Commercial schemes and is a Revit Certified Professional. He offers particular expertise in the heritage sector, having recently completed a RIBA Advanced Conservation Course and has led guided walks for the Civic Trust and Twentieth Century Society.
In 2015 Simon co-curated ‘We built this city’ an exhibition charting the history of Manchester Architects since its foundation 150 years ago. Simon is passionate about improving lives through architecture, designing award winning Youth Zones for disadvantaged young people. He goes above and beyond, recently volunteering at Wirral Youth Zone and taking part in a sponsored sky dive to fundraise for the youth zone charity.

Simon Parker

Managing Director
Simon is a RIBA Chartered Architect and co-founding Director of seven and leads the management of the business. Simon has a passion for designing environments which focus on the needs of building users across all project sectors. He offers particular expertise in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, working with Leadership Teams and Estate Directors to develop effective Estate Strategies and facilities in response to key operational challenges. These include public sector bodies, family owned businesses and over 40 education establishments.
Simon is proud of his track record in creating spaces which inspire learning and encourage collaborative working. He is also proud to be a Goldman Sachs 10KSB Alumni and a past National President of Interact Group, a national networking organisation of property and construction professionals.

Stephen Last

Studio Director & Passive House Designer
Stephen is a RIBA Chartered Architect at seven with a keen interest in the way we live using space and buildings. He offers a wide range of experience in various project sectors including retail, commercial, heritage and education.
Stephen offers particular expertise in commercial development having worked on numerous complex refurbishments, often of sensitive listed buildings, to ensure they are adequate for commercial use in the 21st Century.
He has also successfully managed large scale retail developments from inception through to completion, coordinating a team of consultants to successfully progress the design through the approval process.

Tom Brunyard

Architect
Tom is a RIBA Chartered Architect at Seven. Tom joined the Manchester Studio in 2021 and has worked on a variety of projects within the residential, commercial and leisure sectors, and several heritage projects. He is extremely passionate about heritage and conservation.
He is also working to further develop the sustainability agenda and improve graphic standards at Seven.
While studying for his master’s degree at the Manchester School of Architecture, Tom received the ‘Bown Award for an exceptional design portfolio’ for his project which proposed new typologies for housing on the Irish border post-Brexit.

Tracy Parker

Finance Director
Tracy is the Finance Director at seven and qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with over 15 years of experience in both practice and industry. Tracy has managed the finances for seven since its establishment in 2006 and sits on the board of Directors, offering a critical overview of the business expenditure. Tracy works closely with the management team, the wider architectural team and our clients to ensure effective project and practice management. She is passionate about providing excellent, efficient systems which encourage open and collaborative working within the practice.

Waheeda Rasool

Part II Architectural Assistant
Waheeda is a recent Master of Architecture Graduate from The University of Dundee. Awarded dual accreditation for Architecture (RIBA) and Urban Planning (RTPI). While in her fourth year, Waheeda was awarded the John Needham Prize for outstanding ability. She believes we have a duty of care to design to make a difference. Hence, Waheeda has a keen interest in designing for a future which celebrates social equity.
She joined the Harrogate studio in August 2021 and has been assisting with several Further Education projects. She is also part of the internal Graphics Team to help standardise and improve the quality of work issued. Alongside this, she is working towards completing her Part 3 to become a registered Architect.
Other than architecture, her creativity is also expressed through her interest in makeup; she regularly attends the gym and is a keen traveler who loves exploring the world to appreciate different cultures!
